Job Chapter 11

Then Zophar spoke,
"I must respond to this multitude of words, this endless babble, as if mere words can vindicate a man of his wrongs. How can I hold my peace while you self righteously boast? When you mock God with all your talk, should no one rebuke you? For you have said that you are a man of sound doctrine and principles, pure in the eyes of God. But oh that God would speak now and open his lips against you and show you the secrets of wisdom! Then you would be more prudent in the words you speak. Know this Job, that the punishment God has inflicted upon you is far less severe than your iniquity deserves.
Who are you? Can you search out the deep things of God? Can you define the limits of the Almighty? They are higher than heaven. What can you do? His ways are deeper than Sheol. What can you know of such things?
The spirit of God and the intricacies of His thoughts are longer than the earth, and broader than the sea. If He comes against you and locks you in prison pronouncing His judgment, who can stop him? For He knows the corrupt, deceitful nature of man, He sees it clearly. Is this not evident when He takes sinful man into consideration? For the chances of empty headed men to become wise is as remote as a wild donkey's colt being born as a man.
Don't you see Job? If you would prepare your heart and stretch out your hands to the Almighty, if you were to cease doing evil and drive all the wickedness from your tents, then you could lift your eyes to heaven free of sin, then and only then you would be steadfast and you would have no need to be so fearful. Then your misery would be over, forgotten, like waters that have passed away, never to be remembered again. Then your life, it would be bright and full of sunshine, though you were guilty because of God's grace, it would be like the dawn of a new day. Then you would be confident and secure, because there was hope. Yes, you would rest in safety and sleep with no fear of what someone might do to you. Yes, many would court your favor, because of God's blessing on you. But the ways of the wicked man will bring him to destruction. There will be no escape. Their only hope will be death."
