Job Chapter 4

Then Eliphaz rebuked Job and said, " If I attempt to word with you now will you become more despondent? Nevertheless, I cannot remain silent. I must speak out.
Always in the past, was it not you who instructed many? Encouraging them to trust God in times of trial and hardship. Was it not your words, Job that strengthened the downtrodden and the broken in spirit?
But now, when troubles have come upon you, you are weak and feeble of heart. Where is your faith in God? Where is your confidence? Does not God always care for those who are truly good? Listen to yourself. What has happened to your integrity of belief? Have you ever known the innocent and upright to be unjustly punished? It is common knowledge, that only those who have so sinned and troubled reap the same. By the wrath of God they perish.
Though they be as strong and as fearless as a young lion, their teeth shall be broken and they shall stagger about like an old lion until they perish from starvation. Yes, even their children shall be scattered.
Now listen Job, for I was told a secret. It was whispered in my ear and I shall share this knowledge with you. In the disquieting thoughts from the visions of the night when deep sleep falls on men, fear came upon me. I began to tremble until even my bones shook in terror. Then I sensed a spirit, it passed before my face, causing all of my hair to stand on end in fright. The spirit stood still before me, but I could not discern its appearance and then to my dismay, from that dreadful silence, I heard a voice say,
"Can a mere mortal be more righteous than God? Can a man be more pure than his maker?
Job, if God cannot trust his own servants, for even angels err, how much more man, formed and created from dust. Man can be crushed to death as easily as a moth. They rise in the morning fresh and alive, and by evening they are broken to pieces and destroyed with no one regarding their death. And with their destruction, all of their worldly achievements, their earthly wisdom goes to the grave with them. And barely a soul takes notice of their passing."

Job Chapter 5

"Call out now, is there anyone who will save you? They turn to their false gods, but there is no answer. Yes, anger kills a foolish man and envy slays a simple one. I have seen those who forsake God. And for a season they prosper, then suddenly, disaster comes upon them. Their children are crushed with no one to save them. Their harvest is eaten by the devourer and all of their wealth is stolen away by another. Yes, affliction and suffering is the harvest of all the sin they have sown. Man is born for sin and rushes to do evil. As sure as sparks rise from a blazing fire.
But as for me, I would seek God and I would plead my case with Him and confess my iniquity. For He does great things. His ways are unsearchable. His marvelous wonders to perform. He sends the rain from heaven to water the fields of the earth. He sets on high those who are lowly and comforts those who mourn. He frustrates the schemes of crafty men so their plans turn against them and they are caught in their evil devices. They stumble in the darkness though the light of day shines bright about them. They grope at noontime as if it were the black of night. But He saves the humble and the poor from the sword and oppression of the mighty. So the meek have hope, for the mouth of the devourer is closed.
Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects. Therefore, when chastened by the Almighty for your iniquities do not rebel and despise it. For He bruises, but He binds up. He wounds, but His hands heal. In times of famine, He shall keep you from death. And in times of war, no sword shall slay you. No ridicule or slander shall be spoken of you. And you shall have no fear of destruction. Yes, you shall laugh at war and famine, and no wild beast shall bring you harm. You will have a covenant with your fields of harvest, and the beasts of the field will be at peace with you. Your home will be safe and secure, protected in your absence. And when you return, everything will be in place as you left it. You shall have many children. Yes, your descendants will be as numerous as the grass of the earth. You shall live a long, full life like a sheaf of grain that will not ripen before its time.
Behold listen now Job, heed my words for I have searched this out and it is the truth."
