Lyrics
Job Chapter 8
Then Bildad spoke,
"How long will you speak these things? Blowing words about like the wind! Does God corrupt judgment? Can the Almighty pervert justice? If your sons were to sin against Him and He punished them, and you were to seek the Lord earnestly and beg Him on their behalf, if you were a good and upright man, surely He would hear you and prosper your home. And though you had little at first, He would bless you abundantly in the end.
What does history tell us? Consider what our fathers discovered, for we were born yesterday and have much to learn. Our days on earth are but a passing shadow, but the wisdom of the past can teach us. Consider the papyrus, can it grow without a marsh? Can a reed flourish without water? While it is still green and not cut down it begins to wither. So are the paths of all who forsake God. All the hopes of the hypocrite shall perish. Their confidence is like faith placed in a spiderweb. All that he has will fall to ruin. If his security is in his home it will collapse. He tries to hold on to what he has, but nothing endures. He is young and strong like a green tree, his branches spread out over his garden and his roots run deep and wrap firmly around stones .
But he is destroyed and uprooted. Then the earth denies him, saying 'I have not seen you.' He disappears and no one even misses him. Behold, this is the joy of his way. And others shall spring up out of the earth and take his place.
Behold, God will not cast a good man into destruction, nor will he prosper evildoers. He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and set your lips rejoicing. Those who hate you will be clothed with shame and the dwelling place of the wicked will come to nothing."
